Christmas Dress Countdown Challenge: Week 2

Initial: 189
Week 1: 187.3 (-1.7)
Week 2: 186.9 (-.4)

This is going to be brief, but I am ecstatic for my minuscule loss.  I finally broke 187, barely.  But I am going to take it and run with it! I am slowly breaking free from my slump.  I am feeling better and feeling emotionally stronger (which is one of the areas I have been suffering the most over the past couple of weeks).

I expect the numbers to keep declining this week.  I am getting back into the gym and pushing myself again and I will conquer my difficulties.  Today I am very sore from yesterday’s awesome work out.

This week I am going to push harder on my workouts but I am going to take a different approach on my eating.  I am going to step away from counting calories and really pay attention to my body's cravings.  Since I have started counting calories (in June) I have found that I am not eating as much red meat and in turn my iron is low and I think that is one of the reasons I have had difficulty keeping myself in balance.  Low iron and low blood sugar creates a cranky tired person.  I really won’t do much different in my eating, but I need to take away the tracking for a week to see what things are like.  I know some of you will consider this a dieting sin, but it is what I need to do.

Have a great week.  I am looking forward to finally getting my head into to the Christmas Dress Challenge!!

  1. I agree. Your body know what it needs. Great that you're in tune enough to feel the difference with low iron and low blood sugar. I'm not that tuned into my body, but I'm trying!

  3. Keep the losses coming. Good job :) I know what you mean about getting your head into the challenge. I'm just starting to do that today and it feels good.

Sometimes you just need to stop what you have been doing and figure things out. What works for you and what doesn't.

Good luck on week #3 and keep the weight loss coming :)

  4. Hope this is a good week for you.....but who ever said you can't track and have your red meat too.....the old stuff about only fish and chicken is just that old. Give it a try but if it doesn't work just put those lean red meats in your tracker.

  7. I also agree listen to your body or maybe re check you calorie limit it may be too low taking your body into starvation mode. But a loss is a loss!! Congrats on breaking 187. I hope you do even better this week

  8. Yay to losing weight this week! Don't think about 0.4 lost as minuscule because when it's a gain of 0.4lbs, we make it out to be so big .... so make it a big thing that it was lost and not gained! :)

  9. Any loss is a good loss. Breaking slumps is wonderful!!! Bust through and find your stronger self on the other side. Good for you!

And never, ever quit. That's the deal.

  10. Good job & mixing things up doesn't hurt. Those good eating habits should be ingrained by now so that even without tracking you make good choices:-)

  12. You are right on, Amber! Our first instinct when starting to lose weight is to cut calories to the absolute minimum and keep going. It will work for a few weeks, but then we need to reassess and make sure that we're getting NUTRITION even on the reduced calorie amount. This means protein, minerals, vitamins and fat. Yes, fat. We need some healthy oil in our diets to keep the body machine lubricated.

Keep up with the exercise and hydration. You can do it!
